Chronic kidney disease care
What is Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD)?
Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a progressive loss of kidney function over time. The kidneys play a crucial role in filtering waste, balancing electrolytes, and regulating blood pressure. When they fail to function properly, toxins and fluids accumulate in the body, leading to serious health complications.
Stages of CKD
CKD is classified into five stages based on the Glomerular Filtration Rate (GFR):
🔹 Stage 1 & 2: Mild kidney damage with normal or slightly reduced kidney function.
🔹 Stage 3: Moderate kidney impairment with noticeable symptoms.
🔹 Stage 4: Severe kidney function decline requiring medical intervention.
🔹 Stage 5 (End-Stage Renal Disease – ESRD): Kidneys lose nearly all function, requiring dialysis or kidney transplant.
